“From an artistic point of view this burr on visuals and struggle to clearly see what’s going on puts the viewer in the characters position. This is video art, it gives a voyeuristic feel to a piece. As if the footage is coming straight from a mobile phone.”
Enter the void - A visually stimulating feature film, filmed throughout in HD to emphasise this ethereal combination of light and sound. However as a viewer if i squint my eyes or watch this film from an awful download, will it ruin the viewing experience for me? personally it did not. From an artistic point of view this burr on visuals and struggle to clearly see what’s going on put me the viewer in the characters position. This is video art, it gave a voyeuristic feel to to piece. As if the footage was coming straight from a mobile phone. We can get extremely caught up on the quality of films, as modern viewers we expect everything to be HD. This thought inspired me to begin collecting clips i’ve filmed on my phone when I myself have been intoxicated or just surrounded by others in similar situations. Picking up on important factors which create a party atmosphere such as the lighting, sound and music but most importantly how we react to it.
